Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam – the Volvo Way !

Yet another post in “The Volvo Way” series after Delhi-Lucknow, Delhi-Ahmedabad, Delhi-Bangalore trips. After having traversed almost every inch of the western part of India, it was time for me to explore the other half and what better way to start than from our very own Port City of Visakhapatnam aka Vizag (still not used to saying Vizag, for me it’s still Visakhapatnam :P)

Anyways as always decided to travel by road and once again a Volvo 2+2 Semi-Sleeper Multi Axle (possibly a B7R or a B9400) – too much details right ? Well that’s how I like it 😉 There are a handful of travel operators from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam, the well known ones include Kesineni, Kaveri, Garuda(APSRTC), HKB,Orange, Transit et al.

Decided to go for HKB. Reasons ? Firstly it was the  cheapest option (for 900 Rs) plus the pickup point was close to my place and lastly the timings were perfect. As usual used my travel buddy app – RedBus to get the tickets done, and as always it was a breeze. The service was pretty good as they provided blankets, biscuits, chips and a water bottle. Also for all my Hindi bhai-behen, a Telugu movie with English sub titles 😛

The journey , well was a smooth ride. Zooming on the National Highway 16 which goes up to (Kolkata, I guess) Started from the Hyderabad-Vijaywada Expressway, must say this is a pretty good road,  quite comparable to the Ahmedabad-Vadodara or the Mumbai-Pune expressway in terms of road quality. Passed through Vinayawada, Rajamundry and finally Visakhapatnam.

By the time it’s morning, you’ll start seeing hills and forests around. You might find it similar to the landscape you would see while traveling from Pune to Mahabaleshwar (the khatraj ghat et al) and you could also spot our Indian Railways on the way chugging and trying to get past your bus 😉

Well as always, the journey was pretty hassle free and quite as expected. Also sorry for no pictures for this post as it was an overnight journey and I’m equipped only with my iPad mini. Stay tuned for more posts from Visakhapatnam, ahh okay let me write it one time for you – Vizag 😛
