Obama sacrifices own salary to curb economic instability

Was reading through the TOI today and came across this news that – Obama has trimmed his salary and will return it to the Government treasury to counter the economic crisis in the States. I seriously salute this man. That’s how a leader is supposed to be. He’s certainly a great role model for his country. It’s high time that our Babus learn something from this kind act.

President Obama receives a gross salary of $400,000 per annum (over 2 crores) and with this gesture he has trimmed his salary by 5% i.e. $20,000 (around 10Lakhs) and returned to the government. Wish there were some ministers in India too who could show such kind gestures.

India will be the only country where a government official who earns a mere salary of few thousand a month can own kilos of gold, silver, crores of money, luxury cars, bungalows and what not and still on paper he is a poor clerk ! Recently a news broke out that a legislator owned an expensive SUV and huge amount of land and on paper he was a BELOW POVERTY LINE individual ! It’s ridiculous !!

I wish the babus here weren’t always running behind the elections and preparing for the same for almost 5 years ! Would like to see them so spare some time from their busy schedule towards the nation. Its we who are paying theses babus their salary and all the extra perks. They have to work for the nation.

After all even the highest government official is a PUBLIC SERVANT !
