With the ICC World T20 around the corner, every team is trying to sort things out before the start of the tournament. On the same lines, team India too has been trying to get things right for the tournament which will be played in India. Past few weeks have been good for India – barring the ODI series – the bowling unit looks formidable now and looks in shape. Batting has always been India’s strength and that was clear in the recently completed T20 series where the Indian batsmen bamboozled the Aussie bowling. Considering the good form of team India, the T20 squad of team India for the upcoming T20 world cup was announced yesterday. The squad was as expected apart from Negi’s call. Does this team look took to take the world ? Let’s see that impact these guys will have on the game.

Starting from the man at the helm, Mahendra Singh Dhoni as expected is leading a great side which is high on morale and is the favorite to win the tournament as the conditions favor the team. The top order woes have been finally over as Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan look in great touch. The pivot position, No. 3 has the impact player Virat Kohli followed the calm and composed Ajinkya Rahane. The middle order has the T20 specialist Suresh Raina along side the “6 sixes” man –Yuvraj Singh. From a batting point of view, this looks great, a perfect mix of impact players with experience and agility.

There hasn’t been much change in the bowling unit as R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and the experience of Harbhajan Singh will work in favor of India. Bhajji hasn’t got a game yet, I feel he should be given some match practice before the tournament, why not play him against Lanka ? On the other side, the fast bowling department has got M. Shammi back in the side with young guns like Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya. Along with these guys the senior pro Ashish Nehra is there too. The surprise however was Pawan Negi, let’s see how it turns out. Shammi and Negi need some practice too, so apart from warm up matches, Dhoni should try out these guys against Sri Lanka before picking the final 11 that will play the tournament.

So all in all the team looks perfect on and off the paper. We have great batsmen and game changers that have the ability to win the game single-handedly. We have the finest finisher in the any form of Cricket along side a young and dynamic bowling side. I’m glad that Umesh Yadav didn’t get a call from the selectors as I feel he isn’t consistent. So that’s definitely a good call by the selectors. The team looks good to have an impact on the tournament.
