Lasith Malinga is regarded as one of the finest bowlers in the death. His wide arm action has been tough to pick up all through out the innings. But Mahendra Singh Dhoni like always has found a gem in Jasprit Bumrah. This young lad has been performing really well in the recent series against Australia and in the current series with Sri Lanka and has had an impact on the outcome of every game he played. I certainly regard him as India’s Malinga. Why ? Read on.
Bumrah has been a great addition to the team. His addition in the team has given MSD a new weapon which goes in his arsenal. Dhoni has the trick and knows the conditions so well that he knows when to use Bumrah. In the last match itself we saw Dhoni getting Bumrah to bowl in the death overs and he stood up to the situation. He bowled one of the finest seam bowling spells in the death. His yorkers has been accurate as ever. He bowled full and right in the block hole to ensure the batsmen couldn’t get away (News coming in India win the toss in the final T20 against Sr Lanka and deciding to bowl first, going in the with the same team) In the absence of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shammi, Bumrah has done wonders. Inexperienced but smart he is and is having a huge impact on India’s bowling. Nonetheless would love to see Dhoni utilize him during the start of the innings and as well as the death. probably an over in the beginning and remaining in the last few overs.
Bumrah has surely cemented his place in the team and has become Dhoni’s favorite for the death, thanks to the impact Bumrah has on the game. He has proved himself in Australia and now again in India. Looking at the upcoming T20 World Cup, with India having most matches in the north, Bumrah can have a great impact. So it’s more of a wait and watch, but surely Bumrah has become India’s Malinga !
