Weekend Lunch Buffet review of Punjab Grill, jubilee Hills

The first time I heard of Punjab Grill was at the HUFF – Hyderabad Ultimate Food Fest which was held some time back in Hyderabad. That time, this was just a small stall. It did attract lot of visitors back then, and hence wanted to visit the restaurant even more. So during one of the weekends, I was supposed to meet my Humans of Hyderabad couple. We decided to try out some new place and zeroed in on Punjab Grill in Jubilee Hills. It was a Saturday and we decided to go for their Lunch Buffet that comes with unlimited mock tails. Without wasting much time, here’s my review of Buffet Lunch at Punjab Grill, Jubilee Hills.

Good Ambience at Punjab Grill

The restaurant is situated on the 4th floor, and you are greeted by the manager as soon as you step out of the elevator. At first the place looks pretty good with some nicely done walls. The restaurant is divided into two halves, one side catering to Buffet while the other one is for a la carte orders and drinks. Since our table was reserved prior to the visit, we walked up to our table. The decor is pretty good and so is the overall ambience. However, the area is relatively smaller. At its peak, moving about in the restaurant will not be an easy job. The buffet area – especially the non veg and dessert section – is pretty congested. All in all, if you are for lunch or an early dinner, you fill feel comfortable. On the service front, the staff is extremely courtesy and responsive to your needs.

Buffet Lunch review at Punjab Grill

Punjab Grill serves starters and soups on the table while everything else is at the buffet area. The lunch buffet includes unlimited mocktails including my favorite Mojito and Fruit Punch. On that day, there was Cajun Potato, Paneer Tikka, Grilled Vegetables and Corn Kebabs for vegetarians. On the other hand there was Tandoori Chicken, Prawns and Fish for the non veg. Paneer was marinated well and so was the fish. Didn’t like the kebab much, had a strong flavour or cinnamon. For soups – which I never have – I decided to try the Tomato Shorba and it was pretty good. Soon we were served the drinks and the Virjin Mojito was outstanding. One of the finest I’ve had in recent times.

For main course there was Paneer Lababdaar, Mixed Vegetables, Rawalpindi Chana and Dal Makhni. As for rotis they serve only Tandoori Roti and Naan. When I asked for Garlic Naan, the waiter looked hesitant so I went ahead with Naan. The curries weren’t that great and tasted ok. Paneer was tender and fresh. However my highlight of the day has got to be the Dal Makhni. Till date the Dal Makhni at The Grand Trunk Road was my best, but this surely was better. Even though there wasn’t steamed rice on the Buffet, I’m thankful that the staff obliged and provided me with it. And what followed was heavenly – Dal Makhni with Steamed Rice, the deadliest combo ever !

The desserts weren’t great either. There were fruits, ice cream, mitha, Beetroot Halwa and Gulab Jamun. I took Ice Cream and Gulab Jamun. Most of the buffet places as I’ve mentioned earlier too, don’t have good desserts or main course. Anyways, that was about the lunch buffet at Punjab Grill.

Final Verdict – A decent Buffet with unlimited mocktail

The lunch buffet at Punjab Grill was a good experience. The restaurant’s ambience is good and so is the staff. The service is prompt and the music playlist amazing. The starters were good and so were the mocktails. The main course could be better but the chef deserve’s a pat on his back for the delicious Dal Makhni. Over all for Rs 650, the buffet was ok and the entire dining experience was good. Have you already been there ? How was your experience ?
