Ustraa Mooch Wax vs Beardo Mustache and Beard Wax – Mooch Wax Review

Probably the one sector in the Indian FMCG market that is surely on the rise is the Men’s Grooming sector. There aren’t many reputed brands in the country that are bringing products exclusively to this segment. More products related to men’s grooming like Beard and Moustache care, Hair care and other products should be brought to the shelves. I’m not denying that there aren’t any products, but all I’m trying to say is that there aren’t many choices. On the same lines, in this post I’ll talk about two relatively new brands in the Men’s grooming segment. Ustraa and Beardo are a couple of brands providing Men Exclusive products. Their range is pretty decent and have a variety of products in their portfolio. I do use Beard and Moustache wax based products. However I wasn’t able to find a detailed comparison of Ustraa Mooch Wax and Beardo Mustache and Beard Wax products. After using both of them for quite some time, it’s time for a detailed Mooch Wax review of Ustraa and Beardo Mooch Wax products.

Ustraa

Ustraa” is also the Hindi word for an Indian razor. This is a product by Happily Unmarried, which is a well established brand. Their social-media-only marketing strategy has clicked and have garnered great response. Their current product range include Beard & Moustache wax and oils, Hair care products along with face washes and bathing products. I’ve been using their Ustraa Mooch Wax for quite some time now and here’s my review of it.

Review of Ustraa Mooch Wax

Well, when you hear the word Wax, you usually visually white substance. However, even though Ustraa markets this product as wax, it’s technically a gel based product. Similar to hair gel, Ustraa’s Mooch Wax is an almost transparent gel. Focused on packaging, the mooch wax comes in a tin cashing with a small manual. Loved the packing ! Coming back to the product, it has a very faint lemon smell, which according to the company will keep your nose happy 😛 Usage is fairly simple, just a small amount of the gel and apply on your mooch, beard and give desired shape if any. Mooch Wax has a very good hold, since it is a gel based product. It can easily hold your handlebar for few hours and ensures that you aren’t embarrassed with that stray hair in your mooch 😉

Pros:

  • Good Smell
  • Very Good Hold
  • Easy to use

Cons:

  • Makes your beard / mooch hard
  • Not great at high temperatures, yes if you are staying at a hot place, this might not work as expected 🙁

Beardo

Beardo is another brand that is giving Ustraa a competition in the men’s grooming segment. Their product portfolio is similar to that of Ustraa. From Beard and Mooch oils and wax to hair care products. I thought to try this out after using Ustraa’s Mooch Wax. The reason to change was solely based on the need to try something different. And since there aren’t many brands in India, had to opt for this one. So here’s my review of Beardo Mustache and Beard Wax.

Review of Beardo Beard and Mooch Wax

This is actually a wax based product and not gel like Ustraa’s Mooch Wax. It too comes in a tin, but more of a shoe polish type container. The wax is white in color and has a strong lemony smell. Beardo Mustache and Beard Wax is hard and isn’t very easy to use. It’s solid and wants the user to ‘scrape’ a bit and rub on your palms before applying. Due to this, it isn’t great while applying too. Also this is great if you want shine a decent smell. However, this literally has zero hold, couldn’t even hold my mooch for like a minute ! More over, I found this product to be very sticky.

Final Verdict: Ustraa Mooch Wax vs Beardo Mustache and Beard Wax

Based on my usage of the products for close to 2 months now, I put my money on Ustraa Mooch Wax any day. For the reasons I’ve mentioned above,I like a product that can hold my mooch for long and Ustraa’s Mooch Wax certainly does that. More over for a price of Rs 399 for 100 g, this will surely last a couple of quarters easily. On the other hand I was totally unsatisfied by Beardo’s Mustache and Beard Wax. With just strong smell, zero hold and the sticky nature of the product, I advice not to use this. Also for a price of Rs 650 for 50 g, this is a total waste of money IMO.

However, just like all my previous product review, the decision lies in your hand. If you are looking for a product that can hold your mooch then Ustraa’s Mooch Wax is for you. If you are looking for the smell and shine, then go for Beardo Mustache and Beard Wax. Since I was unable to find a good resource on the internet comparing Ustraa Mooch Wax and Beardo Mustache and Beard Wax, I decided to write this post. I’m hopeful that you found this useful.
