A lot of shuffling has been going on in the ODI team rankings for the past few months. England, India and South AFrica are three teams that were in contention for theย premiereย spot. Nevertheless, all teams got their share to be at the top.
Things started when India lost the series to Pakistan. England at that time managed to get to the top spot. They then visited Indian to play a 5 match ODI series in contention to be on top for some more time. Theyย ran awayย with the first match but India came back strongly in the next two games and managed to beat England by a decent margin. At the same time, South Africa was busy playing theย minnowsย New Zeland. To their surprise (everyone’s surprise rather :P)ย New Zealand managed to sneak past South Africa in the fist game. With two remarkable wins, India swapped place with England to reach at the top while South Africa slipped two places down to third spot.
Well, a lot to cheer for the Indian fans and the team as well. MS Dhoni led the team to top the ICC Test team rankings and now has managed to reach the helm of the ICC ODI team rankings. But the question is. Will India be able to retain the spot for a longer duration ? –ย Well the way they have been played their last two matches against England, they look in great touch to remain at the top. But you can’t say anything, with England and South Africa bound to bounce back in the series anything can happen. So keep your eyes on the rankings !
Wishing team India all the best for their match on Wednesday !
