India win series, crush England 3-1

Yes, India has finally won a cricket series after a long long time. It had been ages since we saw the Indian team winning series. Nice to see the team back in form. Now we can say that the revenge of the humiliating test series loss has been completed comprehensively !

Before I start, I said in my last post that Rahane would be dropped and that Pujara would get inthings came out just the way I wanted (Instead Rohit was given a chance) but the point is Rahane was kept out.

Well, India did a good thing by choosing to bowl during a DN match. India took a quick wicket but had to wait for a long time to get another one. Once again our Hero of the last and the second last and the third last match was on fire – Ravindra Jadeja bowled just as India required and picked up 3 wickets at an healthy economy rate. But once again the Indians lost their way in death overs. Its become a trend to give runs during the last overs. At the end, England were bundled for 257.

Now for our batting, the opening woes still continue. Its been quite some time since we saw the opening partnership go past the 75 – 100 run mark. Gambhir was back in the hut quickly. And to my surprise (might be to everyone’s surprise) – the man in form –Rohit Sharma scored a great 83. He looked in great touch and finally reached 2000 ODI runs in 88 matches ! Kohli got a start but couldn’t carry on. Yuvi, Dhoni too were sent back to the pavilion. And again Suresh Raina rose to the occasion and did exactly what India needed to win the match and seal the series.

All in all, Indian team is now gelling well. The two quickies  – Kumar and Shammi Ahmed have been a good find this series. But they still need to bowl well at the death. The batting seems fine, but the search for a perfect opener must go on until Sehwag is back or an equivalent match is found.

Lastly, I would like the BCCI to finally release Jadeja and Pujara to join Saurashtra in their fight against Mumbai in their ultimate encounter.

Respect and Pride is what the England team will now play for. They started well this series but lost their way completely by this time.

All the best to both the teams and Well played India !
