Importance of Vitamin C to boost your immunity

In school, we were a group of three friends, Shaurya, Kuljeet and I who were truly and madly in love with cricket. We, in fact, missed the school assembly once to play cricket in the classroom. It’s a different story as to what happened after that. We always used to hang out together and sneak out to the ground whenever we had a chance. However, Shaurya used to miss school as he would fall ill often. To ensure I didn’t fall ill that often, my mom used to give me milk and fruits, especially oranges to keep up my immunity.

Back then, all I read about Vitamin C in my science book was that oranges are a great source of this vitamin. But now I know that Vitamin C works by protecting our white blood cells from infections, thus boosting our immunity.[1] This way it protects us from common infections.[2] Since I understood the importance of Vitamin C in the body, both before and after infections, I ensured that I was eating nutritious and balanced food along with engaging in some physical activity.

Where to get your dose of Vitamin C?

One of the best things about Vitamin C is that if you have a balanced diet, you’ll meet your daily dietary requirements. However, in case you’re concerned, you’re not getting your daily requirement, consult a physician and they may put you on a Vitamin C supplement.

Are you having your dose of Vitamin C?

As of today, there is abundant information available on the importance of Vitamin C in fighting infections and this post of mine adds to it. We’ve been told from our childhood days about the importance of Vitamin C in our bodies. And since then, for most of us, Vitamin C = Orange! But, now that I have more knowledge about vitamin, apart from oranges, I try to have amla and tomatoes as well, as part of my regular diet.

Still, my overprotective and concerned father decided to discuss my diet and body condition with a physician. Based on an assessment of my lifestyle, dietary habits and physical condition, he recommended Limcee Vitamin C 500mg Chewable Tablets to help me boost my Immunity and it has been a part of my daily immunity-boosting ritual ever since.

As I have reiterated in my previous blog posts, I’m not a nutritionist, so like me, please consult your physician to understand what works best for your body condition
