Places to eat in Jagdalpur

Jagdlapur isn’t a very big city but still has quite a few options when it comes to food. However, one shocking thing for me was the abundance of Idli and Vada for breakfast. I was surprised to see that it’s a popular breakfast in Jagdalpur. I thought it would be poori or kachori, but that wasn’t the case. Anyway, I did spend some time eating at different places in Jagdalpur and below are a few places to eat in Jagdalpur.

Mahavir Paratha Center

Mahavir Paratha Center, located near the enchanting Maa Danteshwari temple in Jagdalpur, is a breakfast haven that beckons with the aroma of freshly prepared parathas. This eatery is renowned for its delectable Aloo, Mix, Gobhi, and Sattu Parathas, each lovingly crafted to perfection and served hot. During my visit, I savoured the delightful Mix Paratha paired with Sattu Paratha, served piping hot.

Accompanying these scrumptious parathas is a delectable subzi and tantalizing chaas that leaves a lasting impression. Mahavir Paratha House is incredibly affordable, making it an ideal stop for a hearty breakfast. However, be sure to arrive early as this popular spot tends to get bustling. With its doors opening at 9 AM, it’s a must-visit for anyone seeking a good breakfast experience in Jagdalpur.

Kehsloor Dhaba

Keshloor Dhaba, situated on the outskirts of Jagdalpur along the route to Tirathgarh waterfalls, is a true roadside gem that represents the essence of a traditional dhaba. With its raw and minimalistic setup, Keshloor Dhaba may not boast luxury, but it certainly shines as one of the most beloved culinary spots in Jagdalpur.

This humble eatery caters to a diverse clientele, from truck drivers seeking a hearty meal to locals and curious tourists in search of a fresh and quick breakfast option. During my visit, I sampled a delightful spread that included Vada Sambhar, Mix Paratha, Chai, Idli, and Dosa. The Vada, generously filled with onions and chillies, left a lasting impression, so much so that I couldn’t resist getting some packed for my journey back to Hyderabad.

Aamcho Bastar Cafe, located at the entrance of the breathtaking Chitrakote waterfalls, amidst a row of shops that includes a general store and a handicraft boutique, this quaint cafe is a testament to local entrepreneurship. Run by a friendly local proprietor, what truly sets Aamcho Bastar Cafe apart are the two talented tribal girls who don multiple hats as both chefs and culinary artists.

While the cafe offers familiar options like Maggi, pasta, and sandwiches, my visit was fueled by a desire for an authentic Bastariya culinary affair. The chefs graciously prepared a delightful spread featuring Baasta, a flavorful bamboo shoot curry, accompanied by fragrant rice, hearty dal, fresh roti, and a rustic chutney that burst with local flavours. I’d recommend choosing this over the other items the cafe has. Might take some time, but worth the wait.

Hari Om Restaurant

Hari Om Restaurant is a delightful pure vegetarian eatery located within the heart of Jagdalpur. Despite its somewhat hidden location in a narrow alley, this small establishment draws a steady crowd. The restaurant’s modest setup, although small in size, exudes a warm and inviting ambience.

As you go through the menu, you’ll discover a wide array of dishes, echoing the diversity of a typical multi-cuisine restaurant. The attentive and helpful servers, while occasionally a tad persistent, ensure you’re well taken care of throughout your meal. During my visit with friends, the focus was on camaraderie rather than food, but I must say that the dishes – Mushroom Masala, Chilly Paneer, Naan, and Jeera Rice – were not only satisfying but also pleasantly devoid of excessive oiliness. Hari Om Restaurant also offers a selection of flavoured sodas, adding a delightful twist to the beverage choices.
