Last week we were planning for a team outing from work. And like always, I was consulted to provide a list of places to visit for lunch. For whatever reason, none of the places I suggested was voted for. Instead we decided to visit Palamuru Grill. If you’ve been to The Grand Trunk Road in Madhapur, you should have seen this restaurant on the way too. Anyways, if you are a vegetarian, you can give this place a miss. Apparently one of my colleagues told that any restaurant that has Grill in its name will be a non-vegetarian’s paradise. If you are residing in Hyderabad, do mention in the comments and confirm the same. So without any ado, here’s my quick review of Palamuru Grill, Madhapur
Crowded place with ‘not-so’ Good Ambiance
Palamuru Grill can accommodate a decent crowd however during the wee lunch hours, there are a good number of people waiting for their turn to try the food on offer. We were glad to have reached early and hence got the tables soon. The place is nice, I expected it to be little hot but it was properly ventilated. If there was one thing that I could have improved, then it would have been the seating. The seats have no back rest and when you are a restaurant, a comfortable chair is a must. In the end, all I’d say is timing is the key here.
Palamuru Grill not for Vegetarians
I repeat again, this isn’t a place for vegetarians. The double-sided, single page menu barely has anything vegetarian. They have around 4-5 starters, 4 main course curries, a couple of rice preparation and rotis / naans. Unlike our non vegetarian friends, I didn’t spend much time in deciding what to order. We ordred Kheema for starters, the evergreen, Paneer Butter Masala, Kunda Pullav and Rotis. (Rumali for me)
The service was ok and the items didn’t take any longer than expected. I was surprised to see Kheema being served in the form of kebabs. As far as my knowledge is concerned, Kheema is supposed to close to Egg / Paneer Bhurji but that wasn’t the case. Taste wise this was ok. The mint-mustard chutney accompanying this was delicious. Moving on, Paneer Butter Masala was no different and there ain’t much to talk about.
The name Kunda Pullav caught my attention and that’s why I had ordered it. It’s basically an earthen pot in which the rice is cooked. And this seems to be a live-counter type stuff. This was probably the only item that took some time to reach the table. Non vegetarian folks had all sorts of stuff from Chicken to Fish. They too ordered a Kunda Pullav and a Biryani. My meal ended with a class of yummylicious butter milk as other enjoyed cold drinks.
Final Verdict: Palamuru Grill
For about 3500 rupees for around 10 people, Palamuru grill isn’t expensive. The menu is very limited and vegetarians barely have anything to eat. For the non vegetarians, this might be one of those restaurant that provide tasty food without burning a hole in your pocket. For vegetarians, not an ideal place in terms of variety. My pick of the day would be the Kunda Pullav and the butter milk. Visited Palamuru Grill already ? Share your experience in the comments section below or tweet to me at @atulmaharaj
I heard of this place from a friend of mine. He being non-vegetarian loved the food though. Indeed the place looks very much crowded! I some how cannot enjoy my food at crowded places…Me and my food should not be interrupted 😛
