If I was to ask school students and teachers as to which was is their favorite time of the year, I’m sure that most of them would say August. I won’t be surprised since the month of August has the most holidays from Independence Day to Rakshabandhan and later Janmashtami. And the best part is that this time around these holidays aren’t on Weekends ! But if someone asked me which month I enjoy, my answer would be February. Fantastico Febrauy is that part of the year when we Indians get a chance to witness some of the world’s finest products. Courtesy: the numerous exhibitions and expos that are held all over the country at this time. From Tourism to Automobiles, there’s everything and it’s way difficult to cover every bit of it.
To begin with, one of my favorite Expos the year is the Auto Expo that is held in New Delhi – Greater Noida to be precise. The event is held every year in the first week of February. And just like always it kicked off it style yesterday as all the Who’s and Who from the Automobile Industry, Bollywood and Sports were present. It’s the first day of the event that most of the new vehicles are launched since this is the day when only the Media has the access. The likes of Ranbir Kapoor, Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar were also present as brand ambassadors of Hero, Audi and BMW respectively.
The event saw many launches this year especially in the SUV segment – The Vitara Breeza, Hyundai Tuscon and the latest Toyota Innova. Apart from this in the two-wheeler section, Honda Navi – a weird looking bike/scooter – Honda Hornet and lots of other bikes and scooters were launched. I have been to the 2013 and the 2014 edition of the Auto Expo it’s definitely one of the best expos I’ve been to. People from different parts of the country are present to witness this event. Hence this is the main reason why Fantastico February is my favorite month of the year 😉
Further this time around a great event of International importance is taking place on the east coast of India. The International Fleet Review 2016 is taking place in the port city of Visakhapatnam – which is also the headquarters of the Eastern Command of the Indian Navy. The event which is scheduled to start from 4 February will go on for 4 days. All the eminent political leaders including President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will be present along with the Admiral of the Indian Navy. The event will see some of the finest Naval fleets from across the globe navigating to the port city and showcasing their might. The event will see Naval warships, aircraft carriers and combat air crafts which will showcase their heroic acts in front on almost 2 Lakh people. Post this there will be a parade by various Navies. I’m super excited for this event since I’ll be travelling down to Visakhapatnam to witness this event – my first ever Naval event. So I’ll be there covering the event so that you can read it here. All thanks to my friend – God (a nickname I’ve given to my pal) for informing me about the event and making the necessary arrangements.
Apart from these two grand Exhibitions, there are about a 100 different expos taking place in various parts of India including the likes of India International Leather Fair in Chennai, the ongoing Kolkata Bookfair and Numaish in Hyderabad to name a few.
So you see how Fantastico February is the a month of Exhibitions. Whatever your interests are, you’ll definitely find an exhibition related to it. The only problem arises if you are not in the same city as the event, just like how I’m in Hyderabad and the Auto Expo is going on Greater Noida 🙁 But nonetheless I’m glad that I would be attending the International Fleet Review 🙂 Thus keep a track of all the events and who knows you might find something unique in the event !
