Anthm Bar & Kitchen Review: Hyderabad’s Thriving New Hotspot

As a developer advocate, I work from home from Monday to Friday. However, the job gives me the flexibility to work from anywhere because it is a remote job. So most Saturdays I have a lot of work related to the community, this blog and so many other things and that’s when I work from cafes in Hyderabad.

Yesterday was one Saturday when I spent my morning working but when it was time for lunch I headed to a new place called Anthm Bar & Kitchen. In this blog post, I will share my review of Anthm Bar & Kitchen.

Location & Ambience

Anthm is located in Financial District which is where most of the cafes and restaurants are coming up. If you have noticed my stories on Instagram you know that one of the places I visit frequently is Zero40 Brewery. Drive about a kilometre from here and you will reach Anthm. This is right next to Antera Courtyard where I was for lunch a few weeks back.

Anthm opened its doors last year, and I have seen many posts on Instagram posts about it but never had a chance to visit the place until yesterday. The place looks massive in photos and hence  I was excited to see how the place is actually in real.

The entrance to Anthm is not one of the largest that I have seen however things inside are quite different. Strangely enough, I had the security guard frisk me to check for any cigarettes as they are not allowed in Anthm.

Once you enter you have a bar on your left and an outdoor seating with high chair seating available. On the right you have a similar set up but it is an indoor seating with air conditioning. But what catches your attention is the bright blue pool right in the front. This is one of the highlights of Anthm and they have made it Instagram-worthy place. Fancy enough they have made seating available at different spots within the pool which makes it all more fun and exciting.

While we were here for lunch it was fairly occupied, however, I am sure that in the evenings the place is packed. The seating setup is quite comfortable and good enough to sit for long hours. They do have a large screen and they live stream events. Lastly, they also have valet parking available so you don’t have to worry about parking your car.

Food Review Anthm

Like most other places, Anthm also has a QR code-based digital menu. However, this one is on WhatsApp and they want you to give your mobile number to view the menu. The worst part, you have to place the order in person, so basically they’re just collecting user details :/

Anyways, the menu is fairly standard like most places like Zero40, Prost or Lord Of The Drinks, however, there were a few items that caught my attention. Since we were three folks, the order was a mix of veg and non-veg dishes and like always, I’ll talk about veg food at Anthm in this post.

Starters

To start the proceedings I ordered a Masala Pav and Crunchy Chickpea Fajitas. The description of both of these was quite interesting. I don’t know if it was my hunger or if they actually took some time to get things to the table.

Masala Pav turned out to be quite underwhelming from the looks. 6 tiny pavs (equivalent to 2 full-sized pavs) stuffed with the garlic-peanut (Vada Pav) chutney with cheese. While the taste was okay, the portion size seemed small.

The Chickpea Fajitas was hummus, crunchy chickpeas, and olives placed on a rather thick pita bread. I liked this one, to be frank, a different take on the humble Hummus and Pita Bread. For drinks, I ordered a Watermelon Mojito with a dash of chat masala, quite refreshing.

Delicious Mains

Since all of us were quite hungry, we also ordered a few items for mains. For veg, we ordered a Garden Pizza and a Pistachio Penne Pasta. The Pizza had a nice fluffy yet crunchy crust and I totally liked it. The toppings for a garden veg pizza felt a little less though.

The Pistachio Pasta was amazing. It was creamy, had crunchy bits of Pista in it and it tasted pretty nice. Reminded me of the Walnut Broccoli Mac & Cheese Pasta at Cravery. This Pasta is recommended here if you’re a vegetarian.

Apart from this they also have the typical Asian and Indian mains to choose from. So you have Sushi, Dimsums, Noodles and Khow Suey in Asian and a limited Dal Makhni, Paneer, Naan type dishes for Indian.

Summing it Up

To sum it up, Anthm Bar & Kitchen is a trendy spot in Hyderabad. Known for its vibrant ambience and Instagram-worthy poolside seating, Anthm offers both indoor and outdoor dining options. Despite the standard QR code menu on WhatsApp, which requires sharing your mobile number, the food experience was a mix of hits and misses. The Masala Pav was underwhelming, but the Chickpea Fajitas provided a unique twist on the classic hummus and pita bread combo.

In terms of pricing, we paid around Rs 4500 overall for 3 people which I felt is similar to most such places in the vicinity. Overall, Anthm is a decent place to enjoy a meal, with a comfortable setup for long hours and a vibrant atmosphere that livens up in the evenings.
