India look good for a 4-0 whitewash

This is what the cricket fans were desperately waiting for ! A treat to watch the kangaroos go down and that too at our backyard ! After some humiliating test loses in the recent past, India came back strongly to get back at the helm of the ICC Test Rankings.

This tour had been in news for many reasons – Viru’s and Bhajji’s form, Young players against some quality pace bowling etc. But India did well and have answered the critics. Viru’s form though is still a concern. (Might be swapped in for Gambhir for the rest of series) Bhajji has shown some improvement, but he does need to improve his batting. (We need those 50-60 runs to be added by the tail )

The youngsters have made India proud. Murali Vijay was magnificent with the bat in the second test and went on to score his maiden 150+ . He played exactly opposite to his original attacking style. Virat Kohli too showed that he can bat for long hours in the first test match. Ravindra Jadeja has certainly cemented himself in the test side. A very handy bowler with ability to take wickets at crucial intervals and can prove dangerous with the bat too. Bhuvneshwar Kumar did full justice to the selector for including him in the test side. Has been magnificent with the bowl in the second test. Ravichandran Ashwin bowled well and exploited the conditions well in both the matches.

But the real find this series has to be Cheteshwar Pujara. He has shown great courage and temperament for test cricket. I say he’s made to play test cricket. Even in the series against England, he scored a brilliant 200+ and this time again he was seen doing the same. Maybe Mrs. Pujara is proving lucky for him ! 😛 I certainly feel that he has filled in the shoes of the great Rahul Dravid. Hope he carries on the same form.

Indians have looked great in the first two tests in all three departments. Fielding can be improved though. But all in all a great team effort that made them take a 2-0 lead in the test series. And that too winning both games handsomely. Australia have a whole load of homework to do before the start of the next match. Well, the way Indians have played, I certainly feel we can win this one 4-0 !
