Couldn’t have asked for a better Friday than this, the real “First Day First Show”. This was the second edition of the most awaited Gadget Expo – India Gadget Expo 2015. The expo is held at the HITEX exhibition center in Hyderabad. It will be taking place from the 18th September – 21 September, at the end of which the NDTV Gadget Guru awards would take place.
Just like any other Tech enthusiast, I decided to visit the Expo on the first day itself. One could get the tickets for the event from the online portal EventsNow or can even get spot registrations done. I preferred the former one. The expo is held in the Hall 1 of the exhibition center while the hall 2 will have the seminars. The Telangana IT Minister along with the Gadget Guru aka Rajiv Makhni were among the chief guests who inaugurated the event.
This year’s edition saw a lot of startups taking part and showing off their products. A couple of them were the Bluetooth Lock, a mechanical Flap device that would show realtime tweets / FB likes, etc. Many startups were focused on Home Automation, Drones and had products on the lines of “Smart Living”
Stalls at India Gadget Expo 2015
Apart from the startups there were the giants in the Telecom Industry, Airtel who was displaying the power of 4g at its stall. Apart from Airtel, there was this local broadband player ACT Fiber showing off its latest hi speed Fiber plans for home and business users. Further there was the D-Link stall with its range of routers along with Western Digital which was showing off their Cloud Backup series.
Moving on to the mobiles section, there were stalls by Micromax that was displaying the Canvas Series, the Laptab and a range of Smart TVs. There was HTC displaying the latest M9 and other devices. Motorola was there too showing off the Moto X and the Moto 360 smartwatch. Gionee was present with their line of S-series phones.
Microsoft too wasn’t behind. It was all set to display the latest version of Windows 10 to the guests on various laptops. Then there was Tata Sky that was showing off their latest “Transfer” feature that allowed you to carry your entertainment where ever you go. To up the ante, there was a stall by Mercedes showing off their S-Class sedan.
One of the cool things was the 3d Printing demo that was giving at a couple of stalls. One of the stalls seemed to have a pretty hi-fi setup while the other had a basic 3D printer and a handy pen-type printer which required plastic ‘sticks’ to be inserted which would allow you to ‘write in the air’.
There was also a stall selling wearable and had a couple of fitness trackers with step monitor, heart rate monitor, calorie counter to name a few. He also had a bluetooth device that one could put in a bag and when it was lost, the smart phone app would connect to that device and help you locate it. There were many stalls having products to support IOT devices, there were WiFi shields for Arduino et all. Apart from this there were stalls from Panasonic and Canon.
All in all it was a good experience. However the exhibition center was pretty small when compared with the likes of Pragati Maidan and India Expo Mart in New Delhi & NCR, those are some huge exhibition centers. The India Gadget Expo itself didn’t live upto my expectations, I’m not saying that it wasn’t good, but just that I was expecting it to be on a much larger scale. Nevertheless, I was one of the lucky person to have bumped into the Gadget Guru who was at his best and obliged for a Selfie 😛
