Another T20 match and another win for India and once again a comprehensive win. This time winning by 27 runs and once again our captain MS Dhoni gets a chance to lift the middle stump. The batsmen scored runs, bowlers took wickets and fielders fielded well, a great team performance indeed in the past two matches. Every player took up the challenge and delivered. India had serious bowling concerns until the T20 started, but all the questions have been answered and India definitely looks like the team to watch out for during the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Looking at their performance in the past two matches, things look perfect. The team is balanced and has the perfect mix of batsmen, bowlers and all rounders. Two consecutive wins under their belt now, Dhoni and Co. are looking good, going into the world cup T20 next month.
This win comes in at the right time but will it have a positive impact before the T20 world Cup ?
Definitely, the morale is high and the players are confident now. Winning two matches on the trott that too after a bad ODI series is commendable. Further, the upcoming T20 matches against Sri Lanka would test them in a different conditions. Nonetheless, since the T20 world cup is in India, chances are high that India can pull it off this time around owing to their familiarity with the home conditions.
Below are some positives from the past two matches:
- The opening pair of Dhawan and Sharma are scoring runs and giving India the perfect start that is required.
- The all important guy, Kohli is in the form of his life. First a great ODI series followed by two match winning performances.
- The bowling duo of Ashwin and Jadeja always perform well when there is help from the wicket. And this series have been no exception.
- The fast bowling department isn’t stable yet but they are performing well. Both the youngsters Bumrah and Pandya are bowling well. Bumrah especially in the death, lets home they do the same in the upcoming World Cup too.
However, the middle order and the lower middle order haven’t been tested much this series. (It’s a good thing one way, but they should have the match practice before going to the world cup) We’ve seen Dhoni promoting himself up the order – not creating a huge impact, but definitely giving that 10-15 runs boost – but the guys like Yuvraj and Raina haven’t got much opportunity to play. And in this situation we don’t know how our batting unit would perform in case the top order failed. That’s an area of concern. I feel in the next match, Raina and Yuvi should be promoted to help them get that crucial match practice.
All in all it’s great to see the Men in blue back to winning ways, this will definitely have a positive impact before the T20 World Cup.
