Indian eves win against arch rivals

India and Pakistan are arch rivals on the Cricket field. Both teams are their best in matches against each other. It’s regarded as the Mother of all matches ! After the fantastic win by the men’s team at Mohali in 2012 World Cup, it was time for the women’s team to repeat it. And they did it in great fashion. Sometimes I wonder, the ICC purposely makes the fixtures so that India and Pakistan play at least one match against each other. This match surely rakes in the big bucks that is need to keep the tournament alive !

Once again, it was Niranjana today with the ball. She bowled some great deliveries and bagged 3 wickets. The most b a bowler in today’s match. Next in line was – Ms. Dependable – Jhulan Goswami (I seriously regard her as the Ms. Dependable for team India, one who can bat and pick up wickets too…) she too picked up 2 wickets today. This allowed Pakistan to reach a modest 192 in their allotted overs.

But it was Captain’s day today. Mithali Raj showed why exactly she is one of the top scorers in ODI cricket. She played some great text book shots and paced the innings well. There was no stopping for Raj as she reached her century. Kamini and Reema chipped in with 20+ scores and helped India win the match by 6 wicket with 4 overs to spare.

Hmm…atleast the tournament ended on a high note for the Indians. Would certainly have been more happy if India qualified for the next stage. Well, the team should take a break and re group for their up coming series.
