I’m quite vocal when it comes to the food of Hyderabad in the way that there’s a lot more beyond Biryani. From the melt-in-mouth bakery biscuits and chai of Nimrah cafe to some fantastic Andhra and Rayalaseema meals. Apart from the traditional Hyderabadi foods and establishments, the cafe culture in Hyderabad is booming.
Cafes in Hyderabad have become a place for get-togethers and meetings over coffee and delicious food. One such cafe that I visited recently was Feu in Jubilee Hills. And after visiting Feu, I can say that the Cafe culture in Hyderabad is worth checking out.
Feu – A castle in Jubilee Hills
One of the distinct things about pubs, lounges, restaurants and cafes in Hyderabad is that most of them are established in huge bungalows. At the heart of Hyderabad is Jubilee Hills which is home to some of the finest of the lot. Establishments like these are massive and the interiors just elevate the experience.
Feu is nothing short of a castle. Located right across Le vantage cafe, Feu is a massive cafe that is away from city noises. The entrance to the cafe can be confusing at first, which happened to me when someone guided me to the actual place. There’s a dessert bar to welcome you and a flight of stairs that take you to the cafe.
The outdoor seating is surrounded by plants and lights with the bar counter overlooking everything. With outdoor seating that is perfect for a lovely evening, Feu has indoor seating that is nothing short of luxurious. The interiors are so nicely done that each corner is instagrammable. Whether you are a couple wanting to spend a lovely evening or a group of friends who just want to chill, the rustic yet lively vibes at Feu is for you.
Oriental and Continental Food at Feu – Review
If you google Feu, Zomato shows it up as Feu – Desserts.Bar.Kitchen – and that’s exactly what Feu is. You have a variety to choose from desserts and food along with a well-stocked bar. The menu comprises global dishes along with beverages inspired by plants. A lot of unique yet refreshing combinations are surely going to leave your taste buds wanting more.
The menu itself was quite simple yet nostalgic as it reminded us of our final year college projects. Hardbound green coloured cover with lamination. We ordered a plate of Crispy Shiitake, French Fries, Pizza Primavera and Spaghetti Alfredo Pasta. For beverages, I was interested to try their flowery drinks and hence ordered Sakura followed by Virgin Feu.
The dishes didn’t take much time to arrive at our table. Crispy Shiitake was pretty good. Shredded mushrooms that were crisp and coated with their signature sauce. A great starter for vegetarians (who eat mushrooms). Pizza Primavera was a regular thin crust pizza with generous toppings. It was baked to perfection and wasn’t crispy. There wasn’t an overdo of anything. Lastly, the Spaghetti was creamy and had a pretty balanced taste. The crispy garlic bread complimented the dish really well. There are a lot of other items worth trying but that is for next time.
Talking about beverages, the Sakura was surprisingly very good and refreshing. Sakura is the famous cherry blossom flower. The drink had Kaffir lime leaf, lemongrass and cranberry in a base of Ginger Ale. A perfectly soothing drink that isn’t sweet. Virgin Feu on the other hand wasn’t amusing. I don’t know if it was the elderflower syrup or cantaloupe or the overall mix, I wasn’t quite able to register the flavours and hence didn’t enjoy it much.
Lastly, we also decided to add desserts and ordered Rocky Road. A pretty good looking dish with lots happening on the plate. Chocolate caviars, mousse, ganache and hazelnut ice cream. The ganache was done perfectly and the hazelnut ice cream along with the caviars was pretty good.
Experience Feu once and you’ll want to go back again
As I mentioned earlier, this was an outing with friends and we paid for it. The prices on the menu are fine enough considering the ambience and the quality of ingredients. We paid about Rs 3000 for everything. The menu brings global flavours to your plate and the nature-inspired beverages are refreshing. I highly suggest you check with the server about each dish before ordering.
In terms of ambience, Feu is a castle. A mammoth cafe with calming vibes along with a rustic touch. With valet parking available, you can simply get in and forget about the worries of the world and indulge in the delicious food and drinks Feu has to offer. I don’t know about you, but I’m surely going there again.
That’s about my review and experience of Feu, hope you enjoyed reading it. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below, tweet to me at @Atulmaharaj, DM me on Instagram or Get In Touch.
