How often it happens that your first ever international trip is to the USA and New York is amongst the first few cities. For the unaware, I was in Chicago to attend KubeCon and did some sightseeing. You can read my 3 Day Chicago Itinerary as well.

Reaching New York City
If you’re travelling to the USA from India for the first time, I have a dedicated blog post on planning your first international trip which has a lot of inputs. New York has 2 major airports including JFK and La Guardia. Chances are high that you’d land at JFK if you’re flying in from another country. Both these airports are outside of New York City and hence require a commute. You can choose a cab or a metro train to reach the city from the airport. Metro is preferred because it’s affordable. However, you need to walk a lot and if you are with your family and have luggage, better to take a cab to avoid the hassle.
I travelled extensively on the New York Subway and had taken their unlimited weekly pass. Read my detailed blog post on New York Subway to know everything.
